  • MUST I POST SCORES WHEN USING A MEADURING DEVICE?
  • Golfers must continue to post all scores for handicap purposes made with the aid of a device that measures only distance, but not devices that measure additional conditions such as wind or elevation.

This provision follows consistently with the announcement from the United States Golf Association earlier this year that golfers may use distance-only measuring devices in competition, provided such a local Rule has been adopted. But, regardless of whether or not a local Rule has been adopted, any score made using a distance-only measuring device is acceptable for handicap purposes.

However, under the Rules of Golf, golfers must NOT use distance-measuring devices for handicap purposes or in competition that are capable of gauging or measuring other conditions that might affect play, even if such a function is not used. For example, a distance-measuring device that includes a compass and can measure changes in elevation can NOT be used in competition or for handicap purposes.

This wording for Decision 5-1f/2 has been updated in the 2006 online edition of The USGA Handicap System manual be consistent with the Decision 14-3/0.5 from the Decisions on The Rules of Golf. Clicking here to view the Handicap System Manual.

  • I was just added to eClubhouse and posted three scores to GHIN - where is my H.I.?
  • Your Handicap Index® is updated according to a revision schedule set by the regional golf association in your area. The Handicap Index display in the Members section is a snapshot of scores that were in your scoring record prior to that effective revision date. So, if you were added on June 10, but the last revision in your area was June 5, then no Handicap Index® will appear on eClubhouse until after the next revision.

In addition, your club can only issue you a Handicap Index® after at least five scores have been posted, in accordance with the USGA Handicap System.

  • I just entered a score using "Post to GHIN" through my club's eClubhouse site, but I made a mistake. How do I fix it?
  • Your golf club oversees your scoring record and Handicap Index® If you make a mistake, you need to contact a representative from your club to correct the error.

  • I just entered a score using "myStats Scores", but I made a mistake. How do I fix it?
  • Any score posted using the eClubhouse feature "myStats Scores" can be edited on eClubhouse. However, if "Post Scores to GHIN" was chosen when the score was posted, the score will have to be changed in your record on the GHIN Server as well by contacting your Golf Club.

To modify a score in eClubhouse, use the "Display/Update Rounds" option in "myStats Reports". Locate the score to be modified and chose "edit".

  • I noticed the member fees apply from March 1st of one year through February 28th of the following year. If I apply somewhere in between those months, do I get to pay a pro-rated fee?
  • No. The club fiscal year goes by the Chehalem Glenn Players’ Club (CGPC) fiscal year. Part of your membership fees goes to the Oregon Golf Association (OGA) for your OGA membership and handicap maintenance. The OGA does not pro-rate, so the CGPC does not pro-rate either.

  • If I become a member of the CGPC, do I get a break on greens fees and special consideration for tee times at Chehalem Glenn?
  • No. The club is not directly connected with the Chehalem Park and Recreation District, which manages the golf course. You do get an assigned tee time every time you make the field for one of the club tournaments. You pay the tournament entry fee to the club, and the greens fees to the Pro Shop. If you are a District Resident, then you get a discount on the greens fees. Otherwise, you pay a non-resident fee, in addition to the weekly event or tournament entry fee.

  • I have a complain/suggestion/idea that I'd like to put under consideration to the Board of Directors of the club. Or I would like to get involved in the club organization? How do I do that?
  • You may either send a letter to the board (address is:
PO Box 8031, Newberg, Oregon 97132
), or attend one of the monthly board meetings (usually on the first Tuesday of every month, at 7pm). Members are encouraged to attend. Elections to the board are held in November. Once you are a member you can leave comments in the Forum section at the club website: http://cgpc.ghinclub.com/.

  • I belong to another OGA club and would also like to join the CGPC. Do I still pay the full membership fee? Do I get another OGA number?
  • Yes, you still must pay the full membership fee. We don't get a discount from the OGA either. However, you get to use your already active OGA number. You become a multi member and all your posted scores are entered in your record under the same number.

  • What kind of prizes do I get when I place well in a club tournament?
  • The members have their "winnings" put on their "prize account" with the Pro Shop. Even though the prize is money, members do NOT get cash (against "amateur status" rules, per USGA).

  • In addition to the e-mail notifications, how do I get information about tournament results, schedule, etc?
  • The club maintains a web page for the benefit of all members. If you are reading this FAQ list, you probably already found the club's web page. It's located at http://cgpc.ghinclub.com/.

  • What do the Search Zip Code and Radius features do on the myGame page?
  • The "Search Zip Code" will populate the "Find Other Players", "Club News", "Upcoming Events", "My Events" and "Weather" modules with applicable public content from eClubhouse sites within a "Radius" of X mile from the center point of the Zip Code you provide. The radius default is 1.0.

Great to use when planning a golfing vacation! Find out news and events from the area you are visiting! Connect with a golfer from the area and meet up for a round of golf!

To change the Search Zip Code and populate your dashboard with content from another area, simply click the numerical Zip Code (located above the USGA Handicap Index module). Enter the new Zip Code and press "Submit". When you return from your trip - just change it back to your local Zip Code!

You can change the radius (i.e. reduce or increase the range of news/events) by using the radius drop-down box and modifying the setting.
